The Milutin Milanković Association, the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Belgrade, the Astronomical Observatory Belgrade and the Cultural and Scientific Centre “Milutin Milanković” from Dalj invite those who deal with the calendar issue from the point of view of different scientific fields (astronomy, mathematics, history, archaeology, theology) to participate in the international conference “One Hundred Years of New Julian Calendar of Milutin Milanković”.

Objective of the conference:
The aim of the conference is to present to the public high quality and objective data on the origin and development of calendar knowledge from the perspective of mathematical and astronomical theory of time measurement and calculation, the history of calendar knowledge from the most ancient times to the present, the mythological and theological background of the calendar, as well as the history of the creation and modification of the most famous calendars, up to the specific contribution of Milutin Milanković to the reform of the Julian calendar.
Session topics:
(a) Astronomical and mathematical foundations of the calendar.
(b) History of calendar knowledge in the history of civilization.
(c) Types of calendars throughout history and their reforms.
(d) Christian calendars and the reform of the Gregorian calendar.
(e) Calendar knowledge among the Serbs.
(f) The reform of the Julian calendar in 1923 and the contribution of Milutin Milanković.
Official conference language:
The scientific meeting will be held in English. The papers will be written in English. The live presentation can be given in English, Serbian or Russian and must be written in English.
Key dates:
Submission of application and abstract: by September 15, 2023.
Submission of final paper: February 1, 2024.
Second notification and final program: November 15, 2023.
